I have been on Metformin, Jardiance and eventually Gliclazide for about 5 years and then 2 months ago I was prescribed 12m of insulin as the tablets were no longer working alone. The Gliclazide was stopped but I’m still taking Metformin and Jardiance. This combination is working well according to my blood test last week but wonder is it usual to take tablets plus insulin or would a higher dose of insulin work just as well?

If it helps, I am on Metformin, Jardiance and insulin and have been for years. Checked last month with the DNS and she confirmed this is what I am intended to take.

I didn’t question it when first prescribed the insulin but a Type2 friend who is only on insulin did. So helpful knowing that it’s not unusual. Thanks.
