HI mate how are doing? Thanks for coming to the forum, we appreciate your input and would like a bit more info. Plenty of
Type 2, lots of knowledge so ask away. Take care🙂.

Welcome to the forum, I have been on gliclazide on and off for some years, any questions just ask away.

Hi and welcome to the forum from another gliclazide user.

Welcome Wolfpack, everyone here is really friendly so feel free to ask anything on your mind. What sort of diet control do you follow?

Hi, until a couple of weeks ago I controlled the diabetes by limiting having sugar in my diet and limiting any fats mainly by my wife making 80% of our food. Drinks are tea, coffee and water. I occasionally relaxed on eating but not much. Don't drink alcohol and walking the dog. I've been doing this successfully for about 12 years but now my sugars have crept over 7 on the 6 monthly check l have been advised to take gliclazide as metformin gave me side effects.

Do you limit carbohydrates?

It's carbohydrates we need to watch as type 2's. Fats are good. If you self test that will help you to learn more about how your body handles carbs, and which to cut back on.
Good luck!

Welcome Wolfpack

I know that a lot of people with T2 on here find it useful to test their BG, before and after food. From this they learn how different foods effect their BG. As others have said it is all the carbohydrates that will raise the BG, not just sugar. Carbs include pasta, potatoes, and root veg, pasta, bread, fruit, ... These foods can still be eaten but the more carbs we eat the more our BG rises, so limiting those, along with increased activity, can lower BG.

Limiting just the sugar rather than all carbs is probably the problem - I need to keep below 50 gm of carbs per day, but that gives me normal levels so I don't mind at all.
Limiting fats deosn't help diabetics, and seems to be a lot of wasted effort over what turns out to be some rather dubious number gathering.
