I am trying to cut my carbs at tea time and eat nothing after 7pm is this right ?
Went to my GP he just said see the diabetes, nurse problem is can't get an appointment with her this week then she is off for 3 weeks any abvice please

Welcome to the forum.

One problem is that a lot of GP's are not familiar with diabetes and do leave it to the diabetes nurses, if there is more that one nurse or doctor at the practice worth asking who covers for the diabetic nurse while they are off, though they might not be fully aware of all things about diabetes.

With levels going up around 16, your body will be trying to flush the excess glucose out of your system and I am wondering if you are drinking enough water which might be causing the dry mouth, though others may will have better knowledge on this effect as it's one I have only experienced this with another illness.

Regarding the eat nothing after 7 pm, I would fall fowl of this most days of the year and regularly have my evening meal past 7 pm.

What sort of foods are you eating as some foods can cause a rapid spike in ones levels like white bread, rice, porridge does for me, even fruit like bananas can raise levels, I used to be able to eat them as they were turning from green to yellow, but now they are off the can eat list. Wholemeal etc or some people like Burgen bread which releases the carbs more slowly allowing ones body to cope better and as a result the spikes are not as high.

Hi. We are more sensitive to carbs in the morning, so try to have a low carb breakfast (ie: not cereal or toast). We can usually tolerate a few more carbs by evening. I always eat my evening meal after 7pm. Never done me any harm.🙂
