Hi everyone this is my first post I have to go to nurse for my first 3 month check up in January she says that she will take blood along with other tests what I would like to ask is do I have to fast before these blood tests and should I have them done before my appointment with the nurse?

Welcome to the forum......
Assuming that you are going to have a Fasting Blood Test then yes, fasting is required..... If it's just A1c then no fasting is required as this is an average of blood glucose over 3 months. I'm not sure if you have to fast for cholesterol..... I do anyway
Certainly it helps to have the blood work done before the appointment

If you have to fast, your surgery should have told you. Many surgeries no longer ask for fasting before some tests (eg cholesterol) but I think there are some results of that which can be different depending on whether you fast or not, and depending on whether you drink any alcohol in the 24 hours before the test or not.

I guess the short version is probably that if you’ve not been told to fast, you may not have to, but it won’t hurt if you do - so if base the decision on when the vampire appointment is unless you’ve been told to fast 🙂

You don't need to fast for an HBa1C and a fasting diabetes blood test mostly achieves little but a cholesterol check can be more reliable if fasting before.
