Apples and oats a disaster for me, what helps with a portion of apple is cheese, if you have it with cheese, i.e. fat, the effect could well be reduced. If you like avocado pairs do give them a try for breakfast, they are amazing for keeping hunger at bay, I can have a pear for breakfast with mao and two slices low carb toast, few strawberries or raspberries with half a vanilla kavarg and don’t need any lunch.
I’m seeing a theme here all the time I thought I was doing ok I need to look harder at my diet. I’ve just cut apples going to try oranges. Luckily I’ll eat just about anything

The best thing is to test your tolerance of things like fruits as there can be a big difference depending on variety, ripeness, etc. With an apple you can weigh it so you have a good idea of the carbs, small apple 85g =approx 10g carb, a large apple 170g = approx 20g carbs, however with an orange when it says a small orange 80g = approx 4g carb is that once you have taken the peel off, in which case much better than an apple. If you like melon that can be better than apples.
It is a proverbial minefield.

I really like nice crisp apples that have a good balance of tartness and sweetness (Under ripe Cox's are my favourite followed by Braeburn) so I just limit myself to half at a time and have it with cheese to slow it down.
I have a rule with oranges that I only buy them between Christmas and Easter because that is when they are in season and at their best. Outside of that period, they are usually disappointing so not worth it in my opinion.

We are nearly into apricot and plum season. An apricot, plum or kiwi are all about 5g carbs each.

I do love melon and kiwi fruit I eat the whole lot with kiwi because I’m too lazy to faff with it. I suppose it is finding what’s best for you with testing. I’ve already changed some things but it sounds like you’re always learning

1 Kiwi about 5g carbs.
As they say with diabetes, everyday is a school day.
I found it very useful to make a list of the carbs in 'a portion' of various foods to refer to and keep some scales on the work top.
