Thanks for that, docs told me not to check blood but I’ve got myself a bg monitor just for my own peace of mind
I'd tell him that me not checking blood glucose was OK as long as he took the speedometer out of his car and relied on the speeding fines to regulate how fast he drove.

You did right in getting a monitor, because how can you know what foods really affect you, if you don't test? As for the side effects, they do ease off after a time, I found. In my case it did take a few months rather than weeks and I still get the odd morning when I wake up queasy. Rather than get up and go, I have to take my time and wait a couple of hours before breakfast. So we all vary.

My fasting bg was 11.9 this morning when I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago it was 14.6 how long before anyone noticed a significant drop?

For three weeks I think that is a significant drop, well done, it is better to go steadily as you will be less likely to get problems with your eyes and nerves.
Are you checking before and 2 hours after meals to see if your food choices are good, no more than 2-3mmol/l increase is your aim otherwise your meal is too carb heavy.
