Hi,

My MIL is Type 2 Diabetic, diagnosed 2010. How many carbs should she be having per day?
I've just sent off for the Carbs & Cals visual book for her. I have the large version for use at home & the pocket version for my handbag.

The RDA for a female is 210g's..

But saying that it really depends what her needs are, what level of activity she has, does she need to lose a bit of weight.. This will lower her carb needs also the impact on the amount of carbs at a meal and how it impacts on her BG...

Is it possible to get to see a dietien who could help you work out a good starting point for her.. Then you taylor from there.

As for the calories side of it all couldn't say because I've never looked at my diet from a calorie point of view.. Only carb content
