Hi Martin and welcome. How are you finding it so far?

Hi and welcome

It's a shock at first, but you are in the right place. The Learning Zone (orange tab) is excellent, but take it slowly, one module a day, so you can take it in. There's a lot you can do to help yourself, with lifestyle amendments (eating, exercise and weight loss (if needed). It would help us help you if you could tell us a bit about yourself - your HbA1c at diagnosis, if you had symptoms so got checked out, or the diagnosis came unexpectedly, any medication prescribed/medical problems. The lower you are in the diabetic range, the less adjustments you might need to make.

We've all been where you are now, so feel free to ask any questions.

We Leon to the forum @Martin9174

Sorry to read of your diagnosis but pleased that you have found the forum.
If you would like to tell us how you are managing your Diabetes that will help us to adjust our responses to any questions that you have.

Hi Martin and welcome. How are you finding it so far?
I’m finding difficult at the moment on what to do the only information I’m getting is what I’m reading on diabetes website not much help from gp

Hi Martin9174 I’m also a newbie, was diagnosed with prediabetes at beginning of the month and I’ve only just discovered that I am so treat my body as if I have Type 2…it’s a minefield out there. Someone on here suggested Carbs and Cals book which I ordered yesterday and the uk helpline is great- they are sending out some free booklets (£1.50 for p&p)
I’m now looking for suggestions on an App which counts carbs so would appreciate any recommendations thanks

Getting an app was the first thing I did on diagnosis. I use NutraCheck and there is also MyFitBit and probably others. Mine measures cals and carbs, plus 6 other measures - fat, sat fat, sugars (included in carbs), protein, fibre, salt. You can tailor it to suit your needs and I think it still offers a week's free trial to see if it suits. Then it is £7.99 a month - less than a weekly cup of coffee.
