Hi Kerry, welcome to the forum 🙂 I'm sorry to hear about your son's diagnosis - how did it come about? It can obviously be a very worrying time, not least because most of us know next to nothing about diabetes until we suddenly have to deal with it! Try not to become overwhelmed with everything, listen to your healthcare team, and ask any questions you may have - anything that you are unsure about or concerned about we will hopefully be able to help you with.

I would highly recommend getting a copy of Type 1 Diabetes in Children Adolescents and Young People by Ragnar Hanas, which covers all aspects of living with diabetes, in a very readable and positive way. Do you mind me asking how old your son is? What insulin has he been given?

Welcome to the forum, there are some amazing parents on here, as well as loads of us grown ups to help and support you ( I realise that sounds like the parents aren't grown ups, but you get the gist..). Do let us know how you are getting on.

Welcome to the forum, Kerry Pethard. There are plenty of people on these boards, many of whom were diagnosed as children - iust to reassue you that people with type 1 diabetes live interesting, exciting and fun lives.

Welcome Kerry. You have joined a good site with lots of people with good advice. Every day you will pick things up & get better. Keep asking & write things down when you see your specialist. Good luck 🙂 from someone who has been T1 for 50yrs
