That's the HbA1c. That's a sort of average of 2/3 months.
Now there's a problem of the two measurements used. Old and new.
In the new, used for me since I was diagnosed in December 2014, you are officially diabetic when you hit 48 or higher.
Normal would be around 35 to 42.

Your results sound like the other scheme. You need to make sure they explain these to you.

On the rise. It does not mean you've done anything wrong. Not necessary.

Hang on, 10 ten days between the two test?? Ask about that. Get the tests explained.
I'm still learning myself, so can't be much more help yet.

No no, i had my second blood test 10 days ago, the other was back in early July this year.

10 ten days between the two test
Looked like the second test was 10 days ago.....
I'm assuming that they gave you some warning to fast at least 12 hours before drawing blood, any food taken before the test will invalidate the result as an FBG (fasting blood glucose) test.... A1c (an average over 3 months) does not need fasting.

No warnings at all about fasting before the blood tests, on both occasions
do you think i should ask for another blood test but this time i fast for 12 hours before they take my blood...??????

Oh, 3 months between tests, the second 10 days ago. OK. Just never mind me. 🙂

If you weren't told to fast, chances are it was the HbA1c test, which is the three monthly average, and you don't need to fast for that. Surgeries are normally clued up to tell you to fast if necessary. There has been some confusion because the systems used for measuring have changed, but some surgeries still use the old percentage system, because that's what the nurses are familiar with. (Maybe add the question to your list, 'Were the tests I had the HbA1c?)
Don't beat yourself up if your levels have shot up and you've been trying hard to follow the advice given. All it means is that it turns out that your diabetes isn't the sort that responds to diet and exercise. If it's type 1, nothing you can do will stop your levels rising, and the only thing that will stop them is insulin. There are also different forms even of type 2. Some of the strongly hereditary types do not respond to diet and exercise only, and need medication from the start. ( Of course, for any type of diabetes, and for your general good health, diet and exercise is important, so keep on with it anyway!)
Good luck at your appointment, let us know how it goes.

Hi, you might find this HB1ac conversion chart handy. Let us know how you get on on Friday
