Hi Bev, welcome to the forum. You’ve come to the right place to learn how to tame this condition as well as receiving lots of support.
Ask as many questions about diabetes as you need to, we’ll do our best to help.
it does come as a shock doesn’t it. How did you come to be diagnosed.

Welcome to the forum, it can be very overwhelming when first diagnosed. Are you on any medication or just diet and exercise? Either way you will get lots of support and ideas on this forum.

Welcome Bev from a fellow T2

Hi I'm four weeks in and just getting a hang on it. I'm very over weight and all my levels were really high. Last test my BP and Cholesterol we're down but Sugar not. Discovered a diet bar had sugar so they've gone replaced by oats and chopped apple. I need a food plan. That's me hope u had a good day

I am very overweight too. Trying to reduce carb intake but still trying to find things to eat so I don’t feel like I am starving.

No need to starve yourself. Here is a quick, very basic list of low carb foods
Eggs
Bacon
High meat content sausages
Chicken (all meat)
Burgen bread
Lidl high protein rolls (if you can find them)
Greek yogurt
Thick cream
Butter
Berries
And many, many more ...
Have a look in the food and carb forum for meal ideas. There is also a seperate recipe section.

Hi, I'm Bev and 11 days in after being diagnosed. It is all a little strange at the moment
Hi Bev welcome. Being diagnosed does come as a shock doesn't it. But please don't despair as diabetes is a condition that can be managed with proper diet and exercise regimes.

I highly recommend you buy yourself a copy of the book CARB & CALORIE COUNTER Amazon £10.19. www.amazon.co It is the perfect tool for people living with diabetes who count carborhydrates as part of managing their diabetes. The carborhydrate ~ calorie ~ protein ~ fat ~ saturated fat ~ and fibre values are clearly displayed beneath each coloured photo. It is the bible for people living with diabetes. There are many folk here that swear by it🙂

I would also suggest that you view the link below. Within this link there are further links which you will find useful and to your benefit ~ in particular the book called
Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker.

If you want to know anything then please ask, other forum members will come along to help you ~ and remember bev you are not alone as we will accompany you on your diabetes journey. Take care and do please stay in touch. x
