Two days, six hypos...

I had 5 hypos yesterday, all mid to low 3s, despite having reduced both my basal and bolus insulins. So today I decided to be even more conservative and thought I was seriously under-dosing for my lunch. Not to be, I had a rather nasty hypo less than two hours after eating! I know the cause - I have started running again after a long period of demotivation/laziness/aversion to the weather, and it alsways has an effect. However, I didn't expect to be cutting insulin requirements by 30% in less than 4 days! 😱

I am tempted to eat this little beauty I bought (currently half price at the Co-op) without any bolus!

Noooooo, you can't eat the whole cake without bolusing!!!!😱 lol

Oh dear 5 hypos, not good!! But at least you know why you had them.

It's 160g carbs, which I was surprised by - expected it to be much more! 😱

I have been having a number of hypos after starting playing just dance on the wii. I guess it shows how lazy I have been that even that makes the hypos kick in.

It makes you wonder why you bother when you have to stuff your face after exercising.

I hope you get your levels sorted soon.

It's not bad is it. we shared one on Monday with custard, as it's best before was Tuesday. But I do tend to only get big puddings out like that when Carol is within the "range" before tea.

Thanks Rachel 🙂 Does Nathan join in with the dancing, or just look on in wonderment/shock? 😉

I usually get it worked out and settle after a couple of weeks, I'm just always amazed at what a huge difference it makes, as I'm really not doing a lot!

...make that 7. Eyesight just went wobbly and I'm 3.3 :( Right, off for some cake (after my jelly babies!)

I'm not surprised that a change from inactivity to running resulted in needing 30% reduction in insulin - sounds about right.

In a bizarre Diabetes Fairy irony... I went to the gym yesterday for the first time in weeks and then had a very unexpected 14 after lunch. Today saw another after breakfast and a 15 after lunch. I can only assume my basal needs to go up a unit (that's what this usually means) but resuming gym visits I was expecting to have to drop it by at least one...

Grrrr the diabetes gremlins do love to muck us about sometimes!

Mike

It might sound right to me too - but clearly it's not enough, hence the hypos! 😱

The first rule in the Diabetes Rule Book - there is NO Diabetes Rule Book! 🙄

Stay on the good side of the Diabetes Fairy!

There?s nothing so contrary as the Diabetes Fairy,
She?s as fickle as a cloud up in the sky.
You?d be warned to be quite wary, for her magic can be scary,
And you can?t escape, however hard you try!

There?s one special spell she?ll cast that makes your levels fall so fast
That no jelly baby feast can overcome,
When you think you?ve breathed your last, and your time on Earth is past,
Then she?ll spike you like a bear just bit your bum!

You may think she?ll pass you by if your food is low GI,
But she likes to cause confusion when she can.
Insidious and sly, with no earthly reason why,
She?ll confound the plans of diabetic Man!

Most of the time you will find she is courteous and kind,
But be careful when she spreads her magic dust ?
It may catch you from behind and play ping pong with your mind,
Just at the point you think you?ve got it sussed!

Hope things settle down for you - though I must say the ginger cake does look enticing....

I think for about a week I was fighting something off - I felt off my levels were elevated but I didn't have any specific symptoms. Now I feel better and my levels have dropped. It's very frustrating and I was trying to struggle through things so I could see my visiting relatives. In the middle I did have a hypo after a walk, so had to get my OH to drive back- he wasn't too pleased.

Alan, Alan, Alan - I despair I really do! First hot dogs, then walnut whips and now flipping jamaica cake!

Stomps off in a huff - muttering - why can;t he just stick to Kate pictures!
