I have been prescribed two 500mg tablets to be taken daily. I always remenber the morning one because I take it with all my other tablets, but I keep forgetiing to take the other one at the end of the day. Would it be ok if I took the second tablet just after my lunch, or do I need to wait till later?

Generally, you seem to suffer less from the ill effects of metformin if you take it with food. So yes, lunch is probably ok. Arguably it's better to spread them apart by 12 hours but I know of some people who take both in the morning.

You should really ask your doctor or a pharmacist.

Any answer is likely to depend on whether the tablets are slow/extended release type or the standard version.

How about taking one with your dinner. Perhaps set an alarm on your phone, tablet etc.

Hi Edgar. I agree with @bamba and I would suggest you speak with your GP ~ or alternatively, your Pharmacist before making any changes as to when you will take your med.

When I was on Metformin my GP advised me to take it with my breakfast ~ and again with my evening meal.

Have a read of the Patient Information Leaflet that is inside the box of your medication and read the section *How to take Metformin*

Oh, just a little tip: When you set your table for your evening meal, place the box of Metformin with a glass of water on the table ~ you cant possibly forget to take it then can you?!!🙄:D
This daily ritual will become second nature in no time - honest!
