Tslim vs Medtronic

It’s that time where kid is due a new pump.

He’s currently looping Dexcom and tslim and has funding. Medtronic are offering a free month trial so I think he’ll try that to see how it works but for any of you who have used both what do you like/dislike and which do you prefer?

I have only used the Medtronic 780 so cannot do any comparison for you @Thebearcametoo .
Happy to answer questions about Medtronic if you have any.

The algorithm on the MM780 happens to suit my diabetes significantly better than the tSlim

It’s much more hands-off, and you have to surrender much more control, but if it works for you that’s actually a huge benefit.

Since the summer I’ve not had to reset my basal / ratios or make much in the way of tweaks or changes (after the initial “getting to know you” set up).

I’m needing far far fewer small fast carb nudges (pre-Christmas I’d noted how many fewer swigs of full sugar Coke I needed per week and had actually lost a little over a kilo!

I really miss dual wave boluses, and the lack of them has been obvious over Christmas, but experience of rhe MM780
Wins so far for lack of thinking / brain space.

Will be interested to see what my results are when I get my next HbA1c!

Thanks guys
After thinking about it he’s decided to get another tslim so at least we know what we’re dealing with.

Glad that the 780 is working so well for you @everydayupsanddowns
My HbA1c initially went up, but minimally, and has now come down again to my usual level, and all without anywhere near as much thinking. It is that which has had the biggest impact on me, and TIR is generally better than it was before looping. I have never used the t-slim so nothing to compare.

Yes I suspect it’ll be a while before my next HbA1c (my clinic and GP surgery seem to be struggling to keep up in recent years)
