Hi folks I'm back on the straight and narrow after the Christmas blip after putting on some weight,I wasn't too bothered about it as I thought well it's cold and depressing in winter so it's not surprising to slip on the diet a little, chocolate and biscuits were my weakness and I had 4 or 4 McDonalds as one had been built next to the Tescos that I use for my shopping,so all of that added some weight, bit disappointed although I'm still a good amount lighter than my heaviest.
I would like to lose more weight.
Do you find it's harder to lose weight going low carb again as the body perhaps tries to hold on to it more this time?I haven't added any brisk walks this time around yet which I imagine made a big difference last time as it must have got my metabolism in to gear doing a brisk 2 mile walk in the morning, and I felt that was what flicked the switch for me and got the body working again as otherwise I can be fairly inactive due to being a carer at home, and I felt the morning walk was the best time as it got the body fired up for the day.
As soon as the weather gets brighter I will start walking again or at least I may just do it later in the day to start with as it's too cold and grey in the mornings at the moment so very uninviting,I have been using my bike and using shops a few miles away but that can become limited too in the winter as I prefer not to use my bike too much if the roads are wet,I did 8 miles last night though on a trip to Asda to get my mum some t shirts,2 for £6 for good quality white t shirts,I was pleased with that.
I hope you're all fairing well and the New year brings good things,I missed being on here as I enjoyed the support but I have been away as I felt I couldn't participate while I was being naughty on my food relapse,it just felt wrong,I'm over that now,and I'm just pleased that the Quality Street tubs have gone from the shops,I must have has a good 6 tubs!

Hello Alan,
Good to see you back on the forum.
Yes, many of have had a blip over Christmas, but the main thing is to do exactly what you are doing and get yourself back on track as soon as you can.
You have already achieved so much I'm sure you will be fine when you are back to what you did before. Can be a bit difficult to kick-start the weight loss again, and mine refused to shift very much until I started the exercise again, so good if you can get back to your walks. As an alternative if you can't get out for a walk, if you live somewhere where there are stairs, something I have done as an alternative is to set a number of times to go up and down the stairs in one go and try and increase the speed of doing it as well. - Walk is a much better choice though.
Good luck, and just keep remembering what you have already achieved, you can do it!
Not sure how to manage to get passed the McDonald's door, but maybe try to make sure you are not hungry when you go to the supermarket.

Hi thanks that's certainly a good tip not going out when hungry,I've always been amazed at the queues at those places and how they are so popular when often the food is served slightly warm

A thought about McD. Just think about all that packaging that comes with their product and ask yourself whether it really is worth paying for and should you be supporting an organisation whose claims of being "green" smack of hypocrisy?

A bit challenging I know, but you have got to think of a reason for not doing something which will compete with the millions that are spent kidding you into buying their products. One way is to remind yourself that the queues are more a reflection on the quality of their PR and packaging rather than the quality of their food.

I think people are getting a fix of salt, sugar and fat and they crave crave it,from a financial perspective I think what you get for your money is very poor and I will be buying healthy groceries instead

Hi Alan
Welcome back and Happy New Year. Onwards and upwards. You have done it before so you know you can successfully get back on the wagon with a little effort.
I had a chicken salad at MacDonald's over the festive season whilst my OH had a Big Mac, so there are lower carb options if you are lured in there. Can't say I particularly enjoyed it but a Big Mac does nothing for me anyway.... prefer a BK Whopper but still not something I particularly crave. I could have a nice juicy rib eye steak from Lidl and some mushrooms for pretty much the same price....particularly if I keep my eye out for one that has been reduced.... just no comparison in my eyes!
I ate too much cheese over the festive season and gained a little weight so whilst not desperately bad for my BG levels, I too need to up the activity levels to shift a few pounds. Good luck to both of us!

I've had a blip too, and been a couch potato, so I've been for a brisk walk this morning and will aim to get back to my workouts - remembering the good effect they had previously is an incentive... going down a couple of dress sizes, the 'Ooh have you lost weight?' and similar comments :D

We've done it before, we can do it again!

The answer as always is low-carb together with some exercise. When I go to McD now I order my burger without the bun which save around 30gm of carbs; every little helps.
