Type 2
hi all i'm jay

i'm not so new to this!, i was diagnosed with type 2 18 months ago after 4 blood tests
i have been through most of the things you think you have to do (checking sugars daily, cut out sweets etc etc) till i figured out it was a lot more to it than that! i found out the hard way lol

well so far i have changed my eating habits and am currently at my lowest weight i have ever been dropping from nearly 20st to my current weight of 17.5 and still coming down. i im medicated Jardiance as i metformin had a bad reaction too and had to stop.

but as im getting my weight down things seem to be getting worse,
i'm more fatigued than ever before, not sleeping at night worse than i was when all this started
ive have never slepted in the day time before, now i could fall asleep 20 after i have woken up
my joints on getting up in the morning just feel seized
eye sometimes go blurry (eye checks a month ago include screening all come back fine)
dizzy a lot of the time.

feels like im going through the wars again. my first thought is that im going from type 2 to 1 and now to top it all off im told to keep an eye on my extremity hands feet and eyes etc etc and my feet do get cold but my left foot is seriously in pain like when you have no circulation

i'm going to get in to see my doc tomo (if i can get in! lol)

any advice would be grate tho if this is normal

Hi welcome to the forum 🙂, congratulations on the weight loss. See Doc a.s.a.p. come back and let us know how you got on.

Welcome Jay.

Well done on reducing your weight already.

Are you aware of what your BG levels are and is possible to match changes in your mood to changes in BG levels? I know that my mood and sleep patterns is impacted by glucose levels. This information is difficult to pick up from a doctors reviewunless you have data recorded over the oast few weeks,on which to. are decissions about changes to medications. To get this info you would need to self test. Many on here choose to do this and the sheapest test strips are for the SD Codefree meters.

As you reduce your weight your resistance to insulin will drop and your body will find it easier to produce enough insullin for your needs, although this may still not be enough. The meds, more exercise to use up the glucose and reducing the carbohydrates that you eat can all help. What steps have worked for you already to achieve this?

T1 (the beta cells in the pancreas are destroyed) and T2 (the body does not make enough insulin or it does not work very well) are two completely different diseases, so it is extremely unlikely that you would have switched from one to the other, although people on here have been misdiagnosed at the start.

hi thanks for the reply

i dont tend to check my levels... i have prob got a bit lazy on it knowng they stay around 4 to 5 couple at 6 but never over 6.5 i should start checking again

i spoke to my doc and his booked me in to see him at 7 this evening so thats ok see what he says and hopefully he can sort my meds out as i'm only on 25mg and it may just be that but the way i feel im hoping for the best

but then it could be the fact of the stress in the household for getting ready for xmas and we have a house move coming after xmas thats not helping either. i know stress doesnt help with all this but in all honestly all i want is to feel better.

jay

Welcome, @I3ogroll (love the name!). Good luck for your appointment later - do let us know how you get on.

Well done on the weight loss, that's a great thing. Try and relax a little over Christmas if you can, although I imagine a house move as well won't easy!

All the best to you 🙂

thanks for reply

yeah i called this morning and he said he wanted me in today to check me so fingers crossed

the house move is going to be stressful but my wife and i have a good plan in place so shouldnt hit to many snags along the way. i just need to be fighting fit so to be able to do my part

i'm hoping this will be sorted with a med review as ive been on theys for a while now

I think the key is what diet are you on?
It's ok to reduce weight, reduce BG, but if it's not the right way for you, you need to review your strategy.

And reducing your BG too rapidly can be detrimental as well.

UPDATE.

seen my doc and she assured me that all my pules are fine and strong, circulation is fine and all the blood is where it should be and retracks and refills perfect, she done a prick test and apparently yes i am one lol just kidding.

she booked me in for a new blood test in a few day, and we will she will wait for the results
she checked my weight and thats come down again so we are on point this that.

she give me an overhaul and noticed i have a throat infection (i had a bad throat last week that had eased) she seems to think that the infection could be causing trouble to my thyroid and that intern messing with my nervous system which can be messing about the nerves in my legs being there the furthest away from the thyroid.

with the BT shes going to have a thyroid check and she wants to go from there... she told me to get plenty of rest and keep hydrated shes not happy about my sleeping patterns and she wants me checked for sleepapnia i think its called strait away and with my feet being cold she wants me to do a warm soak twice a day and i have a foot spa so im ok with that cheeky bit of pampering

there also going to do a med review soon as the results come back in

i took some pain killers and had a soak but pain is hurting but helping.

so thats where im at currently

i'm ok with my diet i think my bro is a biomedical scientist and a dietitian & nutritionist so drilled into me about complex carbs and simple carbs good sugars bad sugars how to loose weight slow and steady rather than fast and hard... he took me from a 3 meal day and regulated me to 4 meals 4 hours to regulate my metabolic's better for easy weight loss and how to prep meals properly. i'm lucky in that sense i guess

Glad you got checked over and getting more tests. Nice to be “pampered”
