Sorry for posting again when fed up but I'm having an upset blip. Oh walked Susie this morning. I thought I would take her for a ten minute walk to reduce my BG as I'd just injected some humalog and thought the walk would kick start it. It was only a ten minute walk yet my hip was stiff and in pain for most of it. It's really upsetting me that I'm finding walking so difficult? I had ibuprofen two hours before the walk so can't understand why I'm still in pain.....but it is only when I've been walking or doing some standing up things in the kitchen

I am sorry to hear that the pain is spoiling your walks with Susie :( Have you tried using ibuprofen gel on the area of the pain rather than the tablets? I had some dreadful pain in my knees a few months after diagnosis and the gel did give me some relief.

Thanks Alan I will try that

Sorry to hear that :( pain is not nice at all. I have the same problem with the right side of my back. Lifting ( shopping) ALL the cleaning at work, really, really hurts, it's like someone is pushing a stick into the area then stopping, then starting again and it keeps on. It hurts like mad, but I take some tablets from the doctors and Tia rubs some Muscle gel into the area, which may or may not help. I do feel for you and i hope you find some relief very soon. Take care Sheenax

That's a good idea Sheena - something like Deep Heat or Ralgex might help.

Thank you Sheena. Im sorry to hear that you are in pain as well. I've found some disclose ac gel in my cupboard. I rubbed that in half an hour ago and took more ibuprofen. Going to take Susie out in fifteen minutes to see if these have worked. Not sure if I can combine deep heat with the diclofenac gel.....but it could be worth trying if these don't work

HI Amanda,

I am sorry to hear about your hip pain (as if you haven't got enough to contend with).

I suffered for some time with hip pain (and still do occasionally after tennis or a run) and it turned out to be burstitus(?). I was given diclofenac by the GP which really helped and got rid of the problem for quite some time.

Have you had the GP look into this?

Thanks Lucy I will try diclofenac if I can buy it from the chemist. I've started seeing a physio who has given me some exercises. He said that if things don't improve soon that I might need to see GP for an x-ray but I'm trying to avoid her as I'm worried that she will just blame my weight.....I know I need to lose weight but I don't want her to tell me just to lose a few pounds as if it is the easiest thing to do.......the physio has identified three problems with my hip as well as problems with other parts of my back and neck plus the frozen shoulder.....

One thing you might try to ease the strain in the kitchen is have a stool to sit on while you chop, stir and wash up. I do and it's a real lifesaver. Also, there's a gel called Biofreeze that works well for me, it's a bit pricey but a little goes a long way.

Thanks Alison. After I saw your post I ordered the Biofreeze from Amazon. I have been tempted to sit down when preparing things in the kitchen but I'm worried that if I don't push myself to stay on my feet then I will get muscle weakness.......I'm not sure whether it's best to sit or stand - but certainly on bad days I can only iron one item of clothing before needing to sit down to ease the stiffness - I feel like I'm 63 plus rather than 43!

so sorry to hear about your pain Amanda. this may sound silly (and a bit simplistic) but have you tried either a warm wheat bag to ease the pain... or a bag of frozen peas. we are all different and sometimes you need heat and sometimes you need cold.

I swear by my wheat bag ... and I believe you can put them in the freezer as well as the microwave. great for a frozen shoulder or back pain 🙂

the docs always mention weight..... as if it is the easiest thing in the world to lose ...or indeed put on ... some weight. as if we sit all day scoffing cakes and other carb 'treats' for goodness sake!!! it makes me so cross..... we KNOW we need to lose weight. you are doing your best and that is all you can do.... so don't get upset about that.

just look at the programme on tv called Biggest Loser....... they are in training 4 times a day.... and have a dietician onsite.... trainers and other experts on hand and other contestants in the same boat to help them along.... besides being televised and therefore wanting to do well. and still they have some weeks where they lose very little weight even though all of them have a lot of weight to lose. have you seen how hard they work at it and how much they sweat????

if you feel that you need a hug just call 😉

in the meantime (((hugs))) anyway x

problems with other parts of my back and neck plus the frozen shoulder.....[/QUOTE] I also have a painful frozen shoulder, the right one, and the back pain is on the right side of my back. I'm sure the two are related as Tia says my bone is sticking out slighty in my back ( she felt it when she was rubbing in the gel) a couple of months ago.

Be careful with some gels as some people with certain conditions eg Asthma can have breathing problems with certain types of medication. I hope the exercises start to work soon. Sheenax

Hi Macast thank you for your hugs they are really needed because I am feeling very down and tearful today

Sheena I'm so sorry that you are suffering from similar problems as well it's not fair x
