Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well 🙂 this is my first post on this forum and I just have a few questions to ask about travelling and taking medication!
I am 25 years old and have been diagnosed with Type 1 for around 11 years, I manage my diabetes quite well and am planning on travelling to Vietnam/Thailand area, as well as possibly Australia, in August 2021 for around 3-6 months. I am a teacher and I plan on teaching whilst abroad if I am able to get a contract for a few months, so there is a possibility of staying in one place. However, there is also a small possibility of being on the move for the full time whilst out there.
I have contact my GP and they said that I am able to take a maximum of 3 months worth of medication with me whilst abroad, however I just wanted to ensure that I would be able to pick up more if I do stay for longer than that time frame. Do you know how easy it would be to get Diabetes medication in South-East Asia? Would I need to sign up to a pharmacy out there? I do have some Frio bags to keep my insulin cool, and will be able to purchase more for the extra insulin I will have to start off with. I have looked at websites and forums on things like 'Fit for Travel’ and ‘NaTHNaC’, but I haven’t found anything conclusive yet.
Is there any particular advice you are able to give me regarding getting medication abroad? As this would be my main concern, particularly if I am travelling from place to place.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
