hi everyone
i am off to new york next month (very excited) but a little nervous about the it all with regards to my diabetes. i have never done a long flight before, let alone with diabetes (was only diagnosed may) and i now also have coeliac disease just to help!!
i am worried mainly about the airport and if i am going to get any grief with trying to get sharps, insulin and everything in and out the country, as it is america and i have heard they can be akwarkd with things. 🙂
so wondered if any of you lot have any experience with all of this!!! i am sure you do!!! and any advice would be great.
the only person i have spoke to said his friend got stopped for trying to take food into america, he tried to explain he had diabetes but got told to go queue somewhere else, by the time he was seen he had ate the food and then got searched for trying to conceal food!!!
this makes me worry!!!
going to give my DSN a ring next week and sort out a letter for meds and sharps.
any help would be magical!!!
also need to work out about when to take background insulin because of time difference but i am sure my DSN will hopefully tell me what to do about that!!!!!
