Somebody told me that Travel Insurance won't insure you if you're on medication until you've been on that medication for 12 months - is this correct, do you know??

I'm not very well travelled, but am planning to go to Canada next September, have been on Metformin since August, which isn't a problem, but DSN was waffling on about maybe putting me on statins and something else (for kidneys) in the next few months, which would be a right pain as far as the insurance is concerned........... Can anyone advise me on this, please?

Many thanks

maybe try googling it , sorry i cant help more. the hol is along way off but hope you have good time 🙂🙂

Yeah, ta, i had a quick google last night, but couldn't find anything. Will have a more thorough search shortly. Will pop into a travel agent's next time I'm passing and ask, if no joy will have to ring a few companies.

Just wondered if anyone had experience of this.

We've had to extend our policy for our holiday in 3 weeks' time and went back to our original one who wanted too much (not because of any for medical condition but merely to extend it to outisde Europe).

So we were advised (by some friends who own a Travel Agents) to try a firm called "Holiday Extras" (Tel: 0871-3602742) We did and they came out very well for the premium and then they referred us to a firm called Europe Assistance Holdings for an overview on our medical conditions (nominally Type 2 on medication only). After answering extensive questions (none of which were on length of medication) they agreed our proposals and charged us under ?10 each to cover the diabetes.

Another company which we were advised covers many medical problems is "In Tune" 0800-0223152.

You may have to give your travel agent's ABTA number to quote to both companies.

I don't know if this might help you ?

Thank you, it's certainly more info than I have at present anyway!!
