hi guys, does anyone suffer from a sore tongue, mine is sore most of the time and been told it could be my medication😡, although i have been on meds for years😎, it gets so sore sometimes i can't eat anything too hot...help😱

What medication are you on Janie? It's not something I have noticed myself, although I do get the occasional ulcer on my tongue. Was it your doctor who suggested it might be your medication? Is it the whole of your tongue that is sore and is it only whne you have something hot? Sorry for all the questions!

Could it be thrush due to high blood sugar? I know my wee one had really bad nappy rash due to thrush just when he was diagnosed though not sure if it happens orally for same reason though I know inhalers and certain oral antibiotics will predispose to oral thrush. Just a thought.

Another thing occurred to me this morning. When I was younger I used to have the odd hypo in the night without waking. The only way I knew I'd had a hypo was a sore tongue where I had bitten down on it whilst having a minor fit.

The clue was a couple of bite marks either side of my tongue.

Just a thought.🙂

I have a sore tongue all the time and have just been told I'm anaemic, have had more blood tests and awaiting results, am hoping something can be done to ease it.

If I eat food that is too salty or has too much vinager or is too spicy I get a sore tongue. I find a little milk helps, or plenty of plain water. If it is happening all the time get it checked out by the doc or the dentist, or both.

Hi Janie

I had problems with my tongue, mouth and gums for ages before B12 deficiency was picked up. Apparently it can be caused by metformin (some of more experienced could explain why)

Once diagnosed I had 5 B12 injections over a few weeks and then a top up every 3 months.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Andy
