I seem to be in a minority here then by the sound of it - nowt unusual for me then really.

There must be more like me, because otherwise Novorapid wouldn't have even got the reputation that it works pdq to begin with, would it? Within 5 or 10 minutes.

I find it’s action weirdly fickle.

Sometimes it seems rapid, ferocious and very responsive. Other times it seems to lag and lag and barely get going at all.

Aside from time of day, it always seems laggiest when my BG is high and I’d like it to come down, and acts most rapidly when my BG wasn’t that high to begin with. 🙄

Hi folks just joining in the conversation great to hear all the different regimes we have. Me personally wait 15 minutes after Bolus but like others eating out is done when the food arrives, if we are having a feast I usually split the Bolus after assessing the amount of carbs. It usually works out but not always as others have said, never mind there will be a cure in 10 years.🙄

For those that prebolus: If you bolus when you eat (or after), do you get lows when it kicks in, cause of it not matching the peak when your food hits the blood stream?
Would it work differently for T2? Not many posts from T2s.

It can happen, but experience usually stops it happening most of the time.

Certain meals require less or more of prebolus, fatty meals for me need extended bolus as fat slows down carb absorption and normal dose would kick in too quick resulting in hypo. No idea about how things work for type 2s mate.

I believe those of us with T1 and T2 who are on MDI experience the same problems , not sure about pumpers.
Apart from the DF , the wind changing direction etc.
If I delay eating for too long or get distracted I will go low.
If I have to jab and eat straight away , ie when eating out , I spike
Then we have the fun of calculating things for a fatty or prolonged meal, often requiring split doses
