Hello people!
I have recently been put on a low dose of levothyroxine because, it seems, my thyroid is slightly underactive.
Is anyone else on the same thing? And my main question: has it had any effects on blood sugar levels?
Well I'm not sure!I've been on it now for just over a month, the doctor said I would not feel any affect for 4-6 weeks. And my month 'anniversary' has coincided with my decision to try cutting down on carbs... My sugar levels have been so much lower in the last couple of days, I'm just trying to work out if it's the thyroid tablets boosting my metabolism or the low-carb diet!
I've got the opposite problem, i've got a slightly overactive thyroid. It was diagnosed at the same time as my diabetes but that might be because it was the first time i'd been to a doctor in years (certainly the first time i had a blood test). I'd be interested to see if these things are related, coz i don't think i've ever found a diffinative answer. My Thyroid dissorder book says that diabetes is "associated" with an underactive thyroid, whatever that means.
