I had a phone call cancelling my hospital retinal screening appointment I was told that all these appointments had been cancelled but the doctor would check records and ring if there was any problem
Carol

Don`t panic Kaylz I phoned the hospital Ophthalmic unit at our hospital as I have an appointment next month, they said all eye appointments except some screening ones will go ahead. All my other appointments have been cancelled by a telephone call, I don`t know if this applies to Scotland but if you are not happy to do it give them a call see what they advise.

Did you try to drop them a line today @Kaylz ?

Look after yourself @Kaylz .
Let us know how they respond.

Finally got round to calling the line today, states all out patient appointments have been cancelled so I'm off the hook, apparently they will be in touch soon regarding appointments but lets see how long that will be xx

Great that you made the call @Kaylz

Hoping that knowing it is officially cancelled gives you one less thing to think about.

Letter came through the door 20 minutes after I'd phoned telling me it had been cancelled 😳 lol, ah well I get 5000 minutes on my SIM plan at the moment anyway so not like it cost me anything so been in touch with Bruce's mum to let her know as she was booked to give me a lift (has been since the appointment came through months ago as that's the only way I can get there for 9am!) rescheduling could take up to 6 months apparently, yes not got that on my mind but slightly worse off in feelings as my dad isn't being the nicest :( xx

@Kaylz – i was just thinking about you, I got my ophthalmology cancellation through the post today. Phew.

Looks like my diabetic clinic appointment a week today is still going ahead. Although I don't mind so much about that, as I can drive there. It also means a trip to my local nurse to get my blood taken. Two escapes from the house in the next week!

I've an Endo appointment on 1st May, but need bloods done beforehand, as my issue (non-diabetes) isn't visible. The Endo's letter asked my GP to arrange the bloods.

I called this morning to enquire about the bloods, to be told the GP was refusing to arrange them, so I'll try again tomorrow to contact the Endo's secretary.

To be honest, I'd be very happy with a telephone appointment, The only physical things done when I attend clinic are my height, weight and BP, so the face to face element is relatively unimportant.

I'd perhaps be a little surprised if your GP would do bloods they consider to be very routine.

In normal circumstances, it should be possible get your bloods done at the hospital. Don't know about doing that at the moment.

I usually use the hospital walk in test centre, because I can ensure I have a very early blood draw, for consistency. I just pick up the paperwork and choose my day (and time).

@AndBreathe - it is an odd way of doing it, isn't it?! Local nurse to take the bloods, then one hospital to talk through everything with the doctor, and a completely separate clinic for eyes & feet (at least they're done together). Such a faff.

I much preferred how it was done when i lived in Edinburgh – literally one clinic appointment where the nurse takes your blood as soon as you arrive, you get your eyes and feet checked while they do the bloods on-site, then see the doctor at the end to discuss it all. It took about 2-3 hours with a fair bit of waiting around, but at least it was all done in one go.

Clinic phoned me this morning to say my May appointment is cancelled. No word of a new one obviously.
