Hello - you may have read some of my earlier threads regarding BG levels rising, for what seemed no reason. My GP put me on a succession of different pills, but nothing seemed to help. today they reached an all time high of 25, and yes I did say 25.

My GP referred me to see the diabetic consultant at our local hospital - I am to see him this coming Monday. A card came in yesterday to say I have another appt 2 days later. Thinking this was a mistake - I called - but no, the 2nd appt is for the nurse who will explain how to use insulin injections. Somewhat strange, since I have yet to see the consultant. Byetta seems out of the window, move straight to insulin.

This brings me to the main point of this thread, I finally managed to get hold of a copy of 'SWEET' the diabetic magazine. There is an article in it which in summary suggests that caffeine releases body made gloucose into the bloodstream, and to keep caffeine intake to a minimum.

What do I drink by the gallon - tea and DIET coke

I will keep you posted as to what the hospital people have to say - but meanwhile perhaps you too should limit your caffeine intake.

Cheers,
Hazel
