I have had about 10 Easter Eggs sat on a table in the kitchen every day they have starred me out say come on Simon eat me, its like i have i have an Angle on one shoulder and the Devil on the other Angel saying dont you dare eat them and then the Devil saying mmmm go on Simon whats a few upped units, well last night i cracked it was like Charlie and the chocolate factory chocolate all over my face, a shark frenzy had nothing on me, Dam Easter Eggs! Hence to say i will not be posting my waking up numbers today and im hiding behind the 5th amendment to Pam my DBN.

In these situations I have a Devil on both Shoulders - each egging the other on so i follow a Viz Top Tip:
Avoid the temptation to eat that Mars bar in the fridge by not buying the f**king thing in the first place" 🙂

hope the egg did not do you too much damage

How much did you eat? lol, are you certain you got the carb total correct? Could also be because of the fat content my dear, this is why I asked how much you'd had xx

Hi Kaylz you ok? People just kept giving me Easter Eggs, well lets say there was 8 when i left this morning there was 5 i blamed the grandkids hence i was on the roof dancing still am lol it was id held back all year what a mess loll

Nowt wrong with Easter eggs if you're Type 1. If I want one I'll have one. No guilty feelings about it. DAFNE - dose adjustment for normal eating. As far as I'm aware normal eating includes Easter eggs - not sure that would mean 10 though. 😉

I don’t think Simon did any carb counting Kaylz. Sounds like he upped a few units and hoped for the best! 🙄

Who was daft enough to give you 10 Easter eggs?

Amigo, for 17 years that’s what I did, took extra novo norm tablets when being naughty! Worked quite well. But, much harder on insulin especially when ill! My GP practice nurse always said test more often when ill but, never told me what to do about high numbers.

It wasn’t until last May 2017, when I was ill in hospital & put on high doses of steroids, that has a big effect on blood sugars, for weeks that I was given a leaflet explaining what to do. There were also two tables, one for T1 & T2, with correction doses based on pre meal readings.

Before that I was guessing the insulin when my BS was high while ill. I got some nasty hypos that surprised me when I got it wrong!

I actually think it is rather mean of people to give diabetics chocolate. What are they thinking? Shame on them, and on the parents if it is kids giving you them! I looked for a diabetic egg but had no luck. All I could find was a vegan egg that was supposed to be diabetic friendly, but it was 600 calories! Is it too much to ask manufacturers to make eggs with no added sugar? It does make me mad that the supermarkets have whole sections of gluten free products but don't cater for diabetics at all, even though there are millions of us! Cadbury's used to do a no added sugar chocolate bar but stopped doing it. I sometimes buy the Atkins diet low sugar low carb chocolate bars from Boots, but you can only get them at large branches of Boots. Unfortunately I love chocolate and really miss it. I do eat it once a week but I wish I could eat it every day.

No added suger chocolate contains polyols, which are in the sweeteners used and can have a laxative effect if you over indulge. I think that's why a lot of companies have stopped making it.

Hardly Surprising, the first thing I learnt was food labled as "Diabetic" should be avoided as it was no good.
a real shame as sensible low carb options would be great

Just come back off a Fred Olsen cruise.

Daily menus vegan friendly, glutin free, but nothing sugar free except the fruit salad which isn't, even the low sugar sweetener was sucralose, that was all there was and why was that a problem?

Made an appointment to see the executive chef, waste of time because he just didn't get what I was trying to tell him including the fact that two types of potato, rice and pasta but only one vegetable mixture consisting of carrots and sweetcorn was no choice at all, and who thought it was a good idea to put caramelized onions in the breakfast scrambled egg?

Final passing shot, vegans have made a life choice, diabetics have been given a life sentence !

I once saw a no added sugar Easter egg and compared it with a similar "normal" egg of the same brand. They were both exactly the same total weight, exactly the same price, and the total carbohydrate content was... identical! Which means it makes no difference whatsoever for diabetics, you either need the same dose of insulin or you will get the same blood sugar rise if you are not on insulin, and you might find yourself spending rather a lot of time on the loo if you buy the low sugar one. You might as well just buy the sugary one and enjoy it in small doses.

There is a diabetic friendly aisle in most supermarkets... it's called the fresh veg department o_O

I visit that aisle often @Sally71 tho I dont buy fruit anymore ~ oh maybe a couple of tangerines and raspberries but never bananas. I can't tolerate them. They spike me. I'm pleased with myself because no chocolate at all passed my lips over the Easter weekend. That took a lot of will power I can say🙂

RESPECT @wirralass !

Lol I wanted to say "the fruit and veg aisle" but of course most fruits contain loads of sugar so have to be treated with caution! There's always the fresh meat aisle as well...

Thank you Sally and I agree. I never pass the fresh meat aisles in supermarkets or otherwise without buying trays of chicken portions and various red meats. I make all my meals from scratch then I know exactly what I'm eating. I batch cook and freeze meals ~ then all that needs to be cooked is my favourite broccoli or other leafy greens & cauliflower ~ occasionly mashed carrots & swede!
