Hi, I recently purchased a book on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and it is helping, along with this forum. There are days I feel good and days I feel a wee depressed and anxious. Although I have been on anti-depressants before (2002 - 2006), I would rather not go down that route ( Let me stress there is nothing wrong with taking anti-depressants). While it helped me, I did gain quite a bit of weight, which is the last thing I need right now. Family (bless them) although they have my best interests, they are definitely against the medication root as well. However, I am starting to write down my thoughts when I feel like this - in a bid to loosen their grip on me....thats enought of my ranting.... a nice cup of tea is needed here

I hope you are able to conquer the bad feelings with the book's help, CBT has a very good track record 🙂

What a good plan, writing things down is really helpful for me too, and nothing beats a good cup of tea :D

I agree. Writing thoughts and feelings down is excellent therapy. And you can always review when you're in a better frame of mind to try and figure out where they come from, so you challenge them next time.

We're always here to read, even if you don't want replies (you can always say so).🙂

Hi Rustee,

I hope your good days continue to outweigh the bad. And writing things down is a great way of working through your emotions...have you thought about writitng a blog? It doesn't have to be public, you can keep it just to yourself, but maybe letting a few people read it would be good....people who may be feeling or have felt the same. just to offer you a bit more specific support.

all the best.

And please let me know how you get on CBT as I am due to be getting some at some point in the future, would love to know your thoughts.
