Hi,

Did anyone else catch this programme ("The truth about Carbs") the other week? It wasn't specifically for or about diabetes, although T2 was mentioned frequently, but very interesting stuff about "good" and "bad" carbs, mention of the effect of cooking/cooling/reheating things like pasta to increase the "resistant starch" content & so on.

Some good recipes from it too, all available on the BBC website (for now...)

I plan to try some of them next week, after I've been shopping, but would be interested in your thoughts too.

Cheers!
Ade.

I liked the idea of white, beige and green carbs.
It was the first programme that I have seen where I did not need to shout at the TV at all.

Some of the weight loss stats seemed a bit spectacular to me - 1/2 stone in 2 weeks? In the first 2 weeks maybe, I'd be interested to know if that sort of rate of weight loss is maintainable though... my guess is it'd slow dramatically after a few weeks. However, I'm definitely going to give it a go. Kind of tricky at the moment, as I'm in hotels 5 nights a week for the next few weeks... but fortunately there's an Aldi nearby, so salad + prawns until I'm sick to death of them :D

Like any diet, you'll find all the weight loss in the early stages is simply water unfortunately.
(There is a lot of other low car food you can try as well though)

On September 29th , 2017 I weighed 98.5 kilos having touched 105 kgs 3 months prior.
On Jan 3rd 2018 I weighed 82 kgs and that was the result of a low carb diet
That is a weight loss od 16.5 kgs in 3 months.
This morning Jun 20th, I weigh 80.1 kgs loss 18.4k kgs total since sept 29th.
I have been as slow as 78.8 kgs
Pure and simply the result of low carb dieting.
Around 60 gr carbs per day maximum 75 gr.

I saw it and thought it was a very good programme. Much better than the two on ITV last week.

The rate of weight loss in the first week or two depends on how much you weigh in the first place. Those with a lot to lose will lose a lot quite quickly at the start. If you don't have too much to lose I think it comes off more slowly.
