I have to say I am not the most well behaved Type 1 diabetic but I am getting there. I have lost 4st since March and feel great. I'm not particularly watching what I eat but I am most certainly eating less of it, until now...
anyway - i digress.
has anybody watched the magic pill? its a documentary on Netflix about diet and how we have been brought up by adhering to the food pyramid. there's a doctor on there who suggests we need to turn this food pyramid upside and how the concept was manufactured by big bods like Kellogs/ Quaker/ all of the large corporate grain firms to persuade us into thinking that carbs and wheat etc are good for us. I have taken the findings of this film into consideration and it really is an eye opener in regards to us diabetics. I am type 1 and since I have adopted some of the recommendations about diet to my life, my short acting insulin intake has come considerably down. as in, I take my long acting insulin and maybe 5 units of short acting throughout the day (along with testing so I'm not being stupid).
I urge you folks to watch it, as the doc who suggests that carbs shouldn't be the main component of our diet gets taken to court (!). it makes you question what our children are being taught about food as well and what a difference it can make to our lives if we just cut of the manufactured cr*p that we have been told to eat for the last 70 odd years.
this is old news to some of you folks but it has really hit a nerve with me! if you can, have a watch and let me know what you all think?
thanks
