In Scotland there is a type of smoked haddock called an Arbroath Smokie. It is the king of smoked fish, with a wonderful smoky flavour and not as salty as much smoked salmon. And a little of it goes a long way.

My breakfasts this week have included scrambled egg with flaked smokie, and cauliflower rice smokie kedgeree (flake fish into ‘rice’, add quartered hard biked eggs). Wonderful!

Would probably work well in an omelette, love those ideas. I always thought they were more strongly smoked than smoked salmon.

My favourite omelette is smoked salmon & spinach, and with a salad I average 5.5 post-meal (range 5.2 - 6.2), so it's a regular choice.

I frequently use up stuff in a quiche. One of my recent successes was smoked salmon, griddled courgettes, feta and dill quiche.
For those wanting a lower carb option, I am sure you can omit the pastry case (although I always roll my pastry very thin and prebake it to avoid a "soggy bottom") and make it as an omelette/frittata.

We both like smoked haddock, and kippers - though since MacFisheries shops disappeared can't say I've met a kipper. The smoked Basa fillets are also tasty. I mean - most smoked fish is lovely, be it Gravadlax or eel!

I'd have kippers for breakfast every morning but the rest of the family would boot me out.
I eat a lot of smoked salmon and smoked mackerel though.

Morrisons usually have kippers - proper ones, not just the fillets in plastic. I jug them, same with the kippered mackerel fillets.

My Dad loves kippers. He will be allowed to have them soon because my Mum makes him cook them on the barbie outside

One of my favourite was smoked mackerel, vacumn packed ones in Aldi were cheap enough & tasted delicious & was nutritious.

No idea why but few years back found that heartburn was issue after eating smoked goods, it was same with cheese which was a pity as love strong flavoured smoked cheese.

Anyway stopped eating smoked goods & had no issues since, so unsmoked mackerel cheeses bacon was soon back on menu.

I love smoked haddock, but only the naturally smoked, not the dyed variety. I found the additives in the dyed variety caused a nasty aftertaste, heartburn and the house needed fumigating! Naturally smoked cod is also fine, but I don't like smoked salmon.
