Who else has trouble with this.
Yesterday, i was ill so in the morning, i could not get my b/s down. So in the afternoon i took my dog out for a long walk, then half way round i started to feel a hypo coming on, 2 problems

1) the friggin meter decides its too cold to work and wants to be warmed up😡 what a stupid design

2) I cant get any blood from my fingers 😡

Whenever I've had that I've tucked the meter under my arm for a minute or two (while making fists/rubbing hands together).

It can also help to keep meter in an inside coat pocket if you have one.

I used to work outside for 12 hours a day during the winter never had a problem with the meter saying to cold. I kept the meter in my trouser pocket so my body heat kept it warm.

Never had a problem with my old meters, but this one is linked to my pump so i have to keep using it. When i phoned them up they said it needs to be above 4 oc, i said you do understand British weather dont you, so 1/3 of the year its not designed to work😱

I use an Optium meter and it brings up an error message when it's cold: taking the battery out and breathing on it seems to work, but then the rime and dare resets, or keep it down your bra / inside pocket or something!!

I also think when you're cold, you get vasoconstriction. (ie poorer blood supply to your skin). This seems to make the insulin slower to work and then if I'm not careful I'm giving correction doses and hulking later. Not sure if that's what happened to you...?

Or, as you say you know you were hypo, why not just eat / drink something sugary without testing first?

A sign of how cold it is in my bedroom overnight lately is that I've started getting 'too cold!' errors for my first test of the day. I stick it under my arm fr a few seconds and it's good to go 🙂

I do sometimes have a problem getting blood when it is cold though, and usually when I think I'm low. Of course, it's best to just have a little sugar if you're low and can't test, but try telling my hypo brain that sometimes as I persist trying to get blood! 😱

Oh tell me about it, v difficult to get blood without a lancet in yer bodger too, except of course I don't understand that IS the reason because I'm hypo .... I mean I've seen the cap off the bodger and thought, I have to replace that, how stupid of me to have taken it off! - and done so, so WHY won't it work? Stupid expletive thing .....
