As someone who shouldn't test but does I've got to let you know of my recent bargain.

I bid and won 50 x Accu Check testing strips for ?9.00 plus P&P :D so saved myself a grand total of ?15 by going via Ebay as opposed to a local chemist.

I have decided that I am going to not test on meals which I know I'm ok with and just test those which I haven't tested yet or introducing new foods.

However, I'm not sure how I managed a pre-dinner reading of 4.4 today.... Amanda 🙂

Amanda thats a brillaint price you should go on that bargain hunt you would definetly win :D

Thanks Steff; I love Bargain Hunt and auctions you can get some real bargains. I bought some strips last month and paid around ?14; got outbid a few times. Just wish I didn't have too pay but its a small price to help towards keeping myself healthy. First swimming lesson tomorrow; tried costume on and now just need to get in the water....😱 Amanda x 🙂

You and I may be bidding against each other Amanda:D

It amazes me how many people are bidding for them.

Wouldn't that be awful though - to be honest I got outbid last night by 3p???? Yes, 3p.....Didn't realise I'd won another box until I checked my Ebay tonight. To buy them in the chemist is so expensive but my DN won't prescribe them. I am going to start cutting down; its to expensive and I'm sort of sorting out meal plans.... How are you getting on with food choices? I'm so glad I can tolerate Bergen bread...🙂🙂

Bread and potatoes seem to be a major problem with me, however oven chips, a small portion, seems ok. The guys on here said it was due to the fat slowing down absorbtion.

I dont see how we can sort our diet unless we test, so like you I am buying them from ebay. My DN is ok with 2 tests a week!!!!!!!!!, and I can get those on prescription. But not much point at this stage of experimentation, maybe alright when we are clear what we can eat.

The diet is still very important though, so dont want too much fat. Lost 1 stone so far and another to go, but I,m not doing as well as you.🙂

You are doing very well; its all about trial and error and its important to lose weight at a steady pace; 1 or 2 pounds per week, so you should be pleased and pat yourself on the back 🙂 I can't eat jacket potatoes and only eat boiled potatoes on occassion; I'm ok with egg-noodles and had a very nice pork stir-fry last night 🙂 Cereals have been a nightmare and baked beans are a no-no. My DN wont give me any testing strips; she is Type 2 herself and quite adamant she isn't going down that route but I don't mind funding them myself for now. Its really a case of testing those meals that are likely to increase your sugars rather than every meal. I have to start reducing testing for the sake of testing.... I'm determined not to become too obsessive and continue living the life I had pre-diabetes; just not eating the rubbish and being a couch potatoe. I'm enjoying the food I'm eating now, don't miss treats and I do a lot of walking and made friends with my cross-trainer. Seeing my body change shape with weight loss is a treat in itself. Have just over a stone to lose to get down to ideal weight but need to tone up. Hoping swimming will do that so have booked myself swimming lessons; start tomorrow. Its also important to stay positive... Amanda x 🙂
