I have just been looking at test strips on E-Bay some of them were not to bad price wise but noted one seller was selling out of new York US. Now I'm sure that postage alone would be a no no for someone over here.
I just got a box and very quick in coming no hassle any other experience from anyone on here good or bad as regards payments and the like..

Thanks

Hubby and son use Ebay and have no hassell with payments but have said you need to keep an eye on things 'just in case'

I buy on Ebay; just ensure you buy from someone who has a good rating 100% (ideally in the UK). You also need to check the expiry date of strips because sometimes they are very close to expiring. Never pay more than you want to. Bought my last box of 50 for ?9.00; ?2.50 p&p so saved over ?15.00....bargain. Amanda 🙂

thanks Caroline Amanda yes there in some bargains on there I well keep a eye on what is happening with my account. The box I bought the date is late 2012 and saved ?10 pounds on the price I would have paid over the counter.

Crazy that these lengths have be gone to 😡

Long term complications through not knowing levels = more cost to nhs!
I know it's been said before but Grrrrrrr

Even if they just gave enough to get started and see whats what 😡

I'll stop being grumpy now promise 🙂

Suppose we should be grateful that we can at least buy them on fleabay ...

Sarah 🙂

I should just like to point out that several meter manufacturers will supply strips direct (often not charging P&P) at a fraction of the price in the shops. Spirit Healthcare produce the CareSens Meter and will send you a meter free http://www.spirit-healthcare.co.uk/caresenspatient.aspx and sell you their strips at ?12.75 per 50.

Also a friend of mine got hold of an Omnitest 3 meter and thought it was great and so is the customer service, the usual 10 strips were included in the pack so she contacted bbraun the maker to say that as she tests 6ish times a day 10 strips didnt give chance for a proper trial ,the lady she spoke to was diabetic herself and understood immediatly sending her 50 extra which arrived by post 15 hours later!

Abbott are another manufacturer who sell strips direct for around ?14.70 ish. So it is worth looking on the manufacturer's sites and checking out if you can get reasonably priced strips direct.

Hi Sarah

Yes I know it is very frustrating but it is pretty standard with a few exceptions and as you said it seem short sighted to save money in the short term to pay in the long term.

Let us know what they say as I'd be interested. I get a good supply from dr but sometimes it's not enough and I don't like pushing my luck as I know I get more than a lot of people.

I have done very well with ebay, actually got 1 box for just under ?4, dated next year. Several boxes went up by the same guy with inly a minute between endings, and there were no autobids on this one.

I do wonder where they get them from though.

I thought I got a bargain with ?9.00....I'll have to give you a shout next time I need to order some..or I wonder if it is you I'm bidding against hence the price......:D

I'm after the Aviva strips Amanda, but on that occasion, there were pages of them available. Your price was good, but often there are automatic maximum bids on, that out bid us in the last 30 secs.

I like the idea of the Spirit Healthcare deal though, as outlined in the meter thread.

Right Flutterby I have phoned Accu-chek Careline and got a lovely woman who said unfortunately they do not supply test strips directly only batteries control solution and the like. But apparently they have been called a few times as regards not getting any strips or not enough and they have produced a leflet with ways and places to get strips they are sending me one so when it arrives I could let you know the title or you could phone them and ask about it hope this helps.

Hi Guys,

I live in Norway and I have just picked up 8 boxes of test strips and did not pay a penny.

Donna 🙂

I bought my last lot of Accu Chek strips via Amazon direct from HMI healthcare. Much, much cheaper than boots and no bidding! Also, they came the next day! Katiex

Thanks Donald for getting back to me with the info. Did you get the leaflet they promised you yet?

No I have not received it yet should be in the next day or so they are usually pretty quick will let you know

I have had a look and the price for the ones I use when you add postage they are around the price I get locally.

I got the leaflet today it is called (help is at hand ) and not a lot of info that we did not know before.

contact doctor or health care team by letter asking for written clarification and should include the following

Why you need to continue testing
The number of times you need to test
Details of how you use your test results
What actions you take based on your results

or write to your local mp

and look at www.accu-chek.co.uk/gb/myaccuchek/buymetersonline.html

when it opens click on your accu-chek meter and see a list on the right hand of pharmacy's but the prices are not all that different from anywhere Else
