My niece works for Tesco's and is looking for ideas of ways that her store might do something to raise awareness - and money! - for the cause 🙂

What do you think would appeal to you?

In the tesco express in town they did a cake sale.

You should of heard the comments!!! But the cakes looked nice.

Bjg green arrows pointing to the low sugar items and red tk the high sugar. White arrows for the donuts of course:D

Sponsored "sit" in front of an open pack of Maltesers without eating them!

Edit... After eating the first one!

Yeah, a low sugar section would be ideal 🙂

Supermarkets these days have gluten free, dairy free, world foods aisles etc, so why not one for us and other sugar conscious people

Compile a recipe book of D-friendly low carb versions of favourite dishes.

Is that so we can get to the donuts quicker? I mean for when we maybe hypo when shopping *looks innocent*

I like it LeeLee!!

What about a sponsored exercise bike ride in store? They could even try & do something to represent the number of diabetics in the country, linking up with other stores etc? Thinking promoting the benefits of exercise (although it plays total havoc with my levels, darn it! 🙄)

Lending step counters so that people can see how many they do towards recommended 10,000 a day while walking round supermarket or to show how many extra steps they could do by parking in far corner of car park - or lend them out between shopping trips if they can ensure they'll be returned. All about promoting activity.

Wouldn't interest me, as I cycle to my local supermarkets, Tesco or otherwise, but I'm in the minority there.

I miss my jam donuts - I treat myself every now and again.

what was that programme that Dale Winton did where you have to push a trolley round the shop and can't remember exactly what you had to do but reminds me of my hubby every time we go round the supermarket flying down the aisles 😉 A competition where you have so many minutes to get the ingredients for a low carb recipe (the same ingredients for the same recipe) not sure how you'd fundraise for it though! You could sponsor a member of staff to do it hee hee... think my rising blood sugars are sending me a bit mad 😉

xx

What about a mini masterchef type comp where people submit ideas for reworked low fat reduced carb versions of classic meals? Not sure how the fundraising bit would work but it might help raise awareness??
