Tea, and more importantly, milk for tea on low carb diet...

Another vote for real cream over Elm Lea, which is highly processed.

The thing about fat is that it makes you feel satiated and provides slow release energy whereas carbs tend to release their glucose quickly and if you are diabetic, that means Blood Glucose (BG) levels rise quickly and go higher than they should and then drop after about 2 hours. That drop can cause you to feel hungry which is why we crave a biscuit at 11 o'clock and an afternoon snack, and invariably those snacks are also high carb meaning levels rise and fall again making us hungry again.
Eating much less carbs and more fat has stopped those mid meal cravings for me and often I can skip meals altogether because I don't feel hungry and the fat is supplying me with the energy I need and generally I feel much more in control of my eating as a result, whereas before, I was a big comfort/binge eater and always high carb foods like chocolate bars. Eating more fat made a low carb way of eating sustainable long term and my morning coffee with cream is one of the little daily luxuries which make it sustainable.

It is more the combination of carbs and fats which is more of the problem so in cutting carbs and replacing with protein and healthy fats is what works for many in losing weight and reducing blood glucose. Use real cream not highly processed Elmlea which to my mind tastes vile.
Have a look at this link for a low carb approach based on the suggested no more than 130g carbs per day https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Thank you that link is helpful and so is the info about Elmlea.

Mid morning coffee with cream has made me smile. One of the first things I thought I would have to give up.
