Hi. I’m new to the forum and want to reach out for advise.
I have lipodermatosclerosis on my left leg above the ankle. It’s just a red area now but I can’t find anything that will reduce the redness which leads me to believe it won’t clear up. Has anyone had any success of reducing the redness ? I was looking into getting a tattoo to cover it up, has anyone had this done ?
Many thanks

Stevic, I'm no expert, but I think lipodermatosclerosis can increase your chances of developing ulcers, although by how much I don't know.. I can't imagine the trauma of a tattoo would do anything to improve the quality of the skin, blood supply or swelling.

As I say, I'm no expert and jsut applying my simple, "it's gone a bit wrong. Don't meddle in case it goes even more wrong".

I don't know how big the impacted area is, but if you like to wear skirts and don't like the appearance, could camouflage cosmetics be helpful at all?

Hi. Thanks for the reply. All replies are appreciated. My tattoo artist is researching and I was just curious if anyone had done it. I’m trying a new oil to see what that does. It would just be nice to have the redness reduced so it’s not a glaring. I am however coming to the conclusion that I have it and I’ll have to live with it.

Nothing will cure the redness, so save your money. It’s a rare condition, but the last thing you want to do is tattoo it. Apart from anything else, the skin and subcutaneous tissues harden, (“lipo refers to fat, “derma” refers to skin and “sclerosis” means hardening) so it would be difficult and very painful. Cosmetic covering is simplest and best.

Thank you Mike. I am coming to the conclusion that it is here to stay but had a small hope of a cover up job. Thank you for taking the time and replying.
