Breaking the habits from childhood can be difficult. We had to have bread with our tea otherwise we couldn’t have supper ‍♂️ a snack was sugar and bread or vinegar and bread. I mean I don’t sit down now feet up watching a film with a large loaf and a bottle of sarsons (other vinegars are available) but it’s been drilled into you for so many years that the habits are hard to break. Always bread always potatoes. I do find it difficult at times.

My daughter would come home from school and say 'I'm starving', what would she choose to have, a vinegar or mint sauce sandwich.

Homemade for me. Has been for quite a while now. Curry is my god. I absolutely love it and have spent many hours marinating and chopping happily. Wife’s not so happy with the grenade I always seem to launch into the kitchen mind
One of my favourite home made curry is cauliflower, squash and chick pea, I add either paneer or hard boiled eggs.

i think one of my problems is i dont really like vegetables. i am told sweetcorn has no nutrional value.
Sweetcorn is pretty high carb, the clue is in the name so it is your choice whether you have your carbs in a table spoonful of that or a table spoon of peas for a third of the carbs or half a plate of cauliflower with cheese sauce.
I think people don't like vegetables because they remember the overcooked monstrosity of veg they were served up as a child but by cooking correctly or even eaten raw they are a different kettle of fish or veg.
Vegetables are the friends of Type 2 diabetics as there are so many which are low carb which can be used to bulk out meals which are based on protein and healthy fats.
If sweetcorn or maize has NO nutritional value why is it used extensively in animal feed.
Sweet corn is loaded with lutein and zeaxanthin—two phytochemicals that promote healthy vision,

All grains are about 60% carbs so yes couscous is made from wheat which is a grain and rice is a grain and oats etc, all high carb foods.

Somebody once suggested that they asked for an omelette with their curry rather than rice or one of the breads.

Indian - Tandoori chicken breast and a veg curry/balti. Got to be 10 years since I had a chinese meal!

super thanks all on explaining all those things. i am very suprised things like mayonnaise and dressings are considered good.
well carb wise it’s not too bad (check and compare labels as there is a bit of variation). For me it’s about the processed seed and vegetable oils (usually sunflower in coleslaw but others too). I do eat a little but try to limit it for that reason nothing to do with diabetes just good health generally.

Not true. In fact sweetcorn is one of the higher carb above ground veg. Along with peas and carrots. Probably why they are most peoples favourites because they are sweeter in effect. Green veg is the lowest - usually.

I did think that sweetcorn was something to not have too much off to be honest.
