Hi!

I am a Type 1 diabetic of 20 years(!!!) and current masters student at the University of Kent researching Type 1 diabetes and risk taking behaviours.

I am looking for participants to complete an online questionnaire about their diabetes and overall health and wellbeing, as well as partake in a video call interview with myself (this is optional but hugely appreciated as this is the main part of my research!).

The requirements are that you have had Type 1 diabetes for at least 12 months, and are over 18 years old, but please feel free to still fill out the form if you have been diagnosed for less time. If you are a parent of a T1D, your insight would still be valuable in the form of the interview portion, please feel free to drop me an email and we can just do that part.

This study has received ethical approval from the University of Kent ethics board, and if you would like more info before participating, you are more than welcome to email me and/or my supervisor.

Thank you in advance! 🙂

Edit: This has been approved by @everydayupsanddowns. The study is not affiliated with Diabetes UK

Happy to help but some of the questions have confused me! When you ask, 'do you have any other diagnosed medical conditions', do you want a yes / no answer or a list of what conditions I have?
When you ask about the number of non severe hypos in 3 months, are you ok with an estimate like 10-20 or 20+ etc, to be honest I really don't know. I just know that I am below target 2-3% of the time in the last 3 months.

Hi. With medical conditions it is your discretion if you wish to disclose them or not, you can list them or just put yes/no. With the hypos, it’s how many you have on average, so it would be an estimate.

Dependng on which CGM you use, you may find there is a reporting component which may give you a number of ‘hypos’. I think both Libre and Dexcom have that, and I think they count readings below 4.0 that exceed a certain duration of minutes

That's right, my old Libre 2 + used to do this but because I use my libre with CamApps for my pump, I seem to have lost that information.

Ah OK! Does CamAPS have different reporting software? Can LibreLink also receive the Libre data at the same time?

I think it's different, to be honest I don't know. I used to use the reader for my old sensors and then upload the data to the online libre view website. I can only use one app at a time and was told to make sure I didn't have the libre link app on my phone before I started the pump or it would get confused!

Ah that makes sense!

And what's more - it does get confused. I had an App installed from when I tested Libre all those years ago (different phone, son in law did the 'put the phone screens face to face and transfer everything to the new one' business with them when we had the new ones (it isn't exactly that but there is some 'easy' way definitely LOL so my phone kept failing to start Libre 3s. Husband decided to ring the Ypso helpline (which I wouldn't cos after all, nowt to do with Ypso, was it?) and as per usual got a really helpful bloke who realised pdq what the prob was and offered to do it, which did involve him 'taking over the Admin' for the phone - that very thing one is never ever supposed to let someone' remotely do (!) but anyway he went into bits of the phone neither of us even knew were there so it did quite a bit for our education into mobile phone technology that we didn't really think we wanted to know!

And there it was - gone, ancient App duly deleted. Sorted.
