Interesting post, I assume they base these figures on an average type 1 - if ever there is one!

Here's mine:

Here's mine, yikes. I'm not sure about all those hours of lost sleep...if I say so myself, I'm very good at sleep!

Oh there's plenty of members make me look like a complete newbie, I'm sure they'll be along. It's interesting, if that's the right word, to see written down, isn't it?

And hey, it's only 39 years, thank you very much....none of this rounding my age up by a year! Getting a bit sensitive about that now, ha ha. 🙂

Welcome, by the way.

Apparently my daughter has had over 13,000 insulin injections, even though I told it she got a pump only 8 days after diagnosis! I wonder if it means boluses then, not quite the same when you don't need a needle for each one...

Quite interesting at the thought of how many hours spent recovering from hypos though...😱

I agree with Lisa, it's never affected my sleep in any great way. Anyway, here's mine.

It reckoned I've spent more hours recovering from hypos than I have days with T1.

I simply don't believe that I've had that many.

Same here @trophywench, I've not had that many hypos. I also see Matt's had about 40,000 more blood tests than me, having been diagnosed 8 years later...maybe it thinks he's a lot more diligent than me. 🙂

I’ve never lost any sleep. Unless you count the wake up, check blood, eat glucose, go back to sleep which usually takes three minutes. Can’t add up to more than 12 hours in 21 years.

It's not the blood tests, injections, watching what I eat etc that bother me, but the 21 years of my life when I haven't been allowed to work in Antarctica, serve in armed forces, SCUBA dive professionally, drive minibuses etc, all of which has had an immense impact on my careers.

Well thats mine, Bothers me though that they don't have an option for pump and pen use combined.. jdrf need to sort that one, so thats mdi, pumping for the last few years though so probably a bit off 🙂

just did the link northerner put up , and it comes up different Capturegbgbbgbg.JPG

You've been testing and injecting a lot more than you thought! 😱 :D
Indeed!! :D I googled the jdrf thing the first time so it must be the old calculator. The new one did ask how long i had been using a pump, i am assuming its calculated how many needle pokes for insulin, so thats covered cannula changes too, But then how has the injection number gone up, it should be less than the first one i posted, 1 cannula every 3 days instead of an extra 4+ mdi  interesting how it's said my testing has gone up, they must assume pumpers test more than mdi, if anything i think it's probably the other way round or the same at least  Ah well i suppose it's just a bit of fun, wasn't really expecting it to be accurate 😉

How does it know whether we were on one jab a day (Ultralente) or two way back in the 1970s, or when we changed to MDI ? Or indeed, when we first got our own meter?

It didn't know that I have only been on 3 injections a day since 2012 (no basal) 🙂 Still, it's true that we have to do thousands of injections and finger pricks, even if the exact numbers are inaccurate - Joe Public will most likely not realise just how much it takes and be suitably astounded! 😱 🙂
