Does anyone else have T1 diabetes with Addison's disease? I was diagnosed with Addisons first (about 25 years ago) and T1 diabetes about 6 years ago. I dont seem to have typical T1. I had a very long honeymoon period and now have periods of extreme fatigue and intermittent nausea. I feel like it is getting to a point where I rarely feel well. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience

Calling up someone who does share both conditions - @Pumper_Sue - and has done for as long as I've known her, well over a decade by now - for you.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Just a suggestion but do you take fludrocortisone? If you do, is there any chance it needs increasing?

I have MS for an added bonus so am always fatigued.
You shouldn't be feeling ill as you are so you need to ask your GP for blood tests and also talk to your endo team so they can work it out.

Thank you for your response. I have taken fludrocortisone almost from the start. I have been having so many blood tests - I was having them on a weekly basis and speaking to my GP on a weekly basis (I have a lot of autoimmune conditions, so some of the tests were looking at whether I have a new one!). I have been chasing my endocrinologist (I think we are suffering from overload with covid at the moment, which is part of the difficulty that I have getting hold of them). I am now going to focus on the endo, as finished blood tests with the GP.

I just thought I would see if anyone else has a similar reaction (as I have this about once a year, even if I feel well in between). I am going to do the same with the Addison forum. Thanks again 🙂

Ok, so what time of the year do you feel really cack? Hot sunny weather? I ask because during the summer I need a bit more fludo. If you haven't done so perhaps monitor your BP and see what is happening in that dept as well. That's normally a very good indicator of a dosage change need.

Seems to be more in spring I think (although I am not 100% sure of that - I just remember last year and this year!!). I also do increase Fludro a little in hotter weather generally. I bought a decent blood pressure monitor about 6-8 weeks ago to keep an eye on that (as my wrist monitor was rubbish - different readings all the time). BP seems to be ok. I also take Thyroxine - and that was put back up to 150 mcg/ day a few years ago. Now that I think about it in the past my Thyroxine and Fludro did seem to be tied together somewhat. I have a document that i put together years ago which shows Fludro symptoms when it is out of sync - I can relate to a few of them. I also struggle to bring my blood sugar down no matter what I do (its not that high, but higher than I would want) - and one of the symptoms of Fludro being out of sync is high blood sugar! I believe I have been tested for this recently, but I am definitely going to chase my endo more and ask for more tests. Thanks for your thoughts and ideas 🙂

You are more than welcome, I hope you are soon back up and running at full steam again. 🙂

@Pumper_Sue & @aelliott - hope you both stick with the forum as long as you both can because poor ole Sue is really the only 'dual source' point of reference available on here at the moment and though the combination of the two things isn't 'common' it's clearly a lonely road for some folk and that ain't a comforting thought - to me, at least, frankly!
- or possibly to anyone now the NHS is falling apart at the seams for an awful lot of folk generally. Don't want to be in this space now I'm old, thanks.
