Synacthen Test

I just received a letter got to go for a Synacthen Test. I read the previous thread and understand it measures cortisol but just wondering, the appointment letter states do not take any "medication" on the day of the test. Does this include insulin? As far as I am aware blood is taken after 30 mins and 1 hours and then I can take my "medication". Will I have to skip breakfast as well if I don't take my insulin? Also I read something about insulin intolerance, can you shed any light on this please. Many thanks
 
Sorry I can't offer much advice. Perhaps the people who do the tests or your doctor maybe able to advise? Might pay to ask if you need to fast too.

Otherwise I hope the test goes well and you get a good result (i.e you have nothing to worry about)

Personally I would never not take my insulin unless the doctor told me specifically I have to. I don't count Insulin as medication.

You should probably give them a call to make sure you are doing the right thing.

Yes, I agree with katie - I don't really think of insulin as 'medication'. However, my doctor and several nurses do seem to as I have been asked what medication I am on and forget to say novorapid and lantus and they always ask me about it!

Definitely clarify things with your doctor.
 
Took your advice and telephoned the hospital, they have said not to take insulin to wait until after the test. Will let you know how I get on, although they have said it may be three or four weeks before any results.
