Have had a swollen ankle since May. Despite different G.P.'s telling me it was, arthritis, (no pain) P.A.D. (no symptoms) an allergy, old age etc. because if it was B.P. medication it would be both ankles, I have found the cause.

Amlodipine was the answer. Saw my trusted G.P. last week and he told me to stop the Amlodipine and see what happened. Stopped it on Saturday and after a couple of days the swelling has gone and my ankle is back to it's skinny self. The side effects are listed a swollen ankles but there is no mention of only one ankle but nobody, except my favourite G.P., would listen to me about it affecting one ankle.

Have to see him again next Monday to see what he suggests I can replace the Amlodipine with or if my BP is alright without it. I do take other meds for B.P.

Glad to hear that you have (finally!) found the cause Maisie 🙂 It's a shame those other docs weren't prepared to suggest the same experiment, if only to exclude it as a possibility. Hope your BP is good enough so you don't need a replacement medication 🙂

Maisie pleased to see the cause of the ankle pain was located.

Glad your ankle is better Cherrypie. Peeps do seem to get a range of side effects with Amlodipine.

I'm glad you got the ankle sorted. Hope you get what you need to stay healthy from the GP and the ankle doesn't flare up again.
