Emma - are you drinking enough? Both my OH and myself find if we become dehydrated counterintuitively our extremities get puffy.

Glad your Doc is doing lots of testing.

Do you know what the "normal" result was for your thyroid? So often "normal" just means in a wide range and not necessarily effectively normal for the individual. Did they test thyroid antibodies, your hormone breakdowns or, as happens most usually, just he thyroid stimulating hormone?

How are you this morning Emma?

Well when medically qualified people don't explain properly why they want to test whatever, what they will find out by doing so - what the hell are we sposed to do if we have any curiosity?

Have to say the online system our surgery uses, is excellent. Tells you alongside each result what the 'normal range' is so you can immediately see whether yours is high, low or indifferent, then there's an Info icon which you can click which gives shedloads of detail from what they are actually testing, to why they might be testing it, via what a high or low answer might mean - whilst also telling you not to leap to wrong conclusions!

I'm afraid I don't even know what the result was just that it was 'normal'.

I went for the next set of blood tests this morning so I will ask for the numbers when these are in, they want me to go for a follow up appointment (another 3-5days)

@trophywench your online service sounds much better than mine - they do not have the function for blood results online can only assume they have decided not to use it. Also if I do not log in every 4 weeks it disables my account at which point I have to go to my surgery with ID and then they post!! a new password out to log back in (last one took them 3 weeks)

Ours took a good few years to include that section Emma. Now - if you want test results over the phone - you have to ring on a Tuesday between 12.30 and 2pm - otherwise you can't get them unless you make an appointment ! Far more convenient now - as long as you have internet access.
