Thanks @mikeyB results should be back by the end of the week so fingers crossed for some treatment.

@Ralph-YK I have been sat in the office this afternoon with my feet up on some filing drawers but it doesn't seem to be helping 😛. No change in colour or temperature they are just huge and really quite uncomfortable. Interesting you say about the doctor checking, when I went to see her she didn't actually look at my feet at all!!

My mate's hands and feet swelled- well they just seemed to get larger each time we (sporadically) saw her. Then one day she'd taken one of her daughters to an outpatients appointment at the QE and a passing doctor stopped and asked her if she was there about her 'something she'd never heard of' - No she said, why did you think that? he went red and muttered something about her hands and feet - at which point she demanded to know more …. turned out she had a tumour (not cancerous) on her pituitary, which is apparently rare - and they asked her if they could video the operation to use in future tuition. She agreed provided she could see it first!

Had to harvest a lump of flesh (not sure whether it was fat or muscle) from one of her thighs to fill the hole - and that bothered her a lot more than wherever they went in to her pituitary, which healed PDQ, really.

Putting your feet up would have to be higher than head height. If you have swollen hands too, they would have to be raised too. You’d look like a dead sheep.

One question: if you depress the swelling in your legs, does the depression return quickly to normal or very slowly?

Be simpler if it was your thyroid though Emma. Incidentally all Endos I've ever seen, like 'their diabetics' TSH result to be between 1.0 and 2.0 cos 'we' seem to 'do better' with it at that level.

Hi @mikeyB they bounce back pretty normally I’d say, you don’t see the depression when removing finger

That makes it more likely that it’s just fluid retention, rather than the type of odoema you can get in severe hypothyroidism, but it doesn’t exclude that as a diagnosis, which I would still put money on.

My left ankle has become really swollen today and is now painful to stand on and I have pain going up my calf. Also my toes feel like they’re going numb  hope these blood tests are here Friday as that’ll be 3 days

That doesn't sound good, can you get to A&E or phone the out of hours emergency Dr number?

Lab results are normally all back the next day where I live, I'm surprised that run of the mill tests take so long where you live. Different of course when it's a test that takes longer to 'brew'. They're sent electronically to other NHS establishments from our hospital labs.

That could be something that needs urgent sorting out. If you can’t see your GP, go to A&E.

I agree. It sounds as though you’ve been suffering for days now.

I spent all evening with my legs raised and today they have gone down although still struggling to walk as my left ankle is really painful. I’ve stayed at home and rested today and whilst they are swollen they’re better than they were yesterday. Still I can’t exactly rest forever so really need them to hurry up with these results. Going to try calling doctors this afternoon in the hope the results are there early (they told me 3-5 days)

My blood test results have all come back ‘normal’ according to the receptionist. I’ve asked to speak to a doctor so waiting for another call back

Hope you got to speak with your GP.

Oh Emma this sounds rotten. Do you have a call with the doctor today? X

Spoke to the GP yesterday evening, they tried to give me an appointment for next friday!! I pushed and said I couldn't wait that long and now have an appointment today at 4.50. Hopefully they can help as it's getting me down now

Hope you got sorted today.

More blood tests booked in for Monday. Cortisol, prolactin and NT proBNP. No idea on these ones apparently they’re checking hormones
