Anyone used them to make fishcakes?
I was never keen on sweet potatoes anyway and wouldn't give them a chance now as they are higher carb than your bog standard tattie xx
I've bookmarked the link to take a look at tomorrow as don't have time to read articles at the moment as heading off soon, just where I've looked at them on supermarket websites the listed carb for sweet potatoes is over 20g carbs per 100g whereas normal potatoes are under 20g xxActually they’re not Kaylz. Sweet potatoes are actually lower in carb but much higher in sugar. This is a good article explaining the comparisons;

Well just what I've looked at on supermarkets gives sweet potato as above 20 and normal below 20, the charlotte potatoes we use are 14.9g per 100g and as my levels are never haywire when I go to bed it must be right as that's the nutrition I base my insulin calculation on xxNot saying it’s right but it says a medium ordinary potato has 37g and a medium sweet potato 24 g of carbohydrate.
However, sugars in the ordinary potato are 2g and the sweet potato 7.4g for comparable size.

Oh they sound nice. What do you use as the binder...breadcrumbs, potato?Sweet potatoes are generally about the same carb content but as has been said is higher in fibre so slower release. Personally, I only like them in chip form! I didn't like them mashed at all, but I am curious to know how they would be in a fish cake. I make my own salmon and lime fish cakes and it could be quite a nice combination. Watch this space!
I use mashed potatoes but the salmon to potato ratio is high. I do breadcrumb them too so could be classed as high carb but if you just have a salad with them it wouldnt be too bad. I use tinned red salmon as it seems to work best, fresh limes, 1 lime per tin of salmon. I zest the lime and add that along with the juice. I just made the recipe up after I had them in a pub one day and thought “ I could do that”. Firm family favourite now if a bit of pain to make! They are also nice with sweet chilli sauce and noodles. Ooh more carbs! 😱Oh they sound nice. What do you use as the binder...breadcrumbs, potato?
Delicious! Sorry more questions... what size tin of salmon and how much mashed potato please? I’m going to do some frozen mash so the carbs should be resistant but really want to try your recipe.
