Sweating

In theory, if you've got your correction ratio right, and you know your overnight basal keeps you steady, plus you've got no active insulin from a previous meal, a correction should bring you down into range and the basal should then keep you steady overnight.

Just to add that when my BG is high, I feel very warm and have had nights when I've been maybe 10 and climbing before bed and spent the night a bit over hot.

12 is a fair bit over the normal range, so could be that.🙂

Since diagnosis i've had real trouble with sweating during the night (sleep). At first I thought it was a hypo, but testing my BG levels when I wake because of it and they are averaging between 10 and 11 - so clearly not a hypo

Any ideas? As it's really annoying because i'm a light sleeper and find it difficult to get back to sleep after waking. Not to mention that my sheets, covers and body feel horrible after the sweating :(

excessive sweating can be a symptom of Autonomic Neuropathy ( one of the O'Pathy sisters).

The bodily functions that work automatically ( without you have to consciously do them e.g heart beat, breathing, sphincters opening/closing) are sent skew whiff by high (?) bgs....

Autonomic neuropathy can affect the nerves that control sweating. Sometimes, nerve damage interferes with the activity of the sweat glands, making it difficult for the body to regulate its temperature. Other times, the result can be profuse sweating at night or while eating (gustatory sweating). "

how old are you?😡 I have reached that time in life where I will (soon) be getting night sweats - but going back to my recent pump i have found it really difficult to sleep with the strap and pouch even though I am usually cold i find this makes me incredibly hot and makes DH think I am hypo😡

I let my pump run free in bed 🙂 no straps or anything to think about, I just keep it close.

Gosh, hope it isn't that. Here's to hoping it's just my body adjusting and/or i'm feeling the symptoms of a hypo at a higher level than usual whilst my BG levels slowly come down.

how old are you?
I'm 22, 23 in 10 days 🙂

cheers this has been working for the last few nights so will keep it the same unless it beomes unstuck.....................

I was wrongly diagnosed as type 2 and had the same problem - felt boiling hot when high, and sweating a load at night. It settled down as soon as I went on insulin.

Me too! But I had put it down to my age, as others have noted, these are also symptoms of menopause. However, now my BGs are down to more acceptable levels it seems to have gone away. It was awful, I'd be minding my own business doing whatever and suddenly turn bright red and start sweating, then at other times I'd wake in the middle of the night boiling hot and have to toss away the duvet, even in the depths of winter.

Just a thought - have you tried turning the heating down?
Perhaps try sleeping with just the one duvet?
Not helpful?
No probably not, but I hope it lightened the mood for a mo :D

Making you a month & 1 day older than me! I'm 23 on April 30th.

D'oh - proved me wrong: I had assumed your birthday was 1st .... 😛
