Hi and welcome.
Once you get used to the site you can soon find your way about - if not jut click on "forums" and come back to the boards.
If you have any questions, just ask. There's a whole wealth of experience and knowledge here that you can't get elsewhere, from those that live it 24/7. Lots of friendly people with advice, empathy, waterproof shoulders, listening ears and good humour.

Awww thank you Emma, very difficult to talk about this as was very taboo subject when I got it as a child and just thought had to hide it but feeling so c**p at mo, high bloods no energy thyroid out of sync..... Just feeling sorry for myself I guess, how are you x

The little reply tab on the left hand side of the message. Don’t worry you will soon get the hang of it x

Hi Suzie and welcome

You really should not have been made to feel ashamed. It is not something that you could have done anything to prevent happening. We are very open here and talk about all aspects of diabetes including mental health because diabetes can put a real strain on you mentally and the relentlessness of it can bring you down, so it really helps to talk to others who face the same challenges and frustrations.

Which insulins are you on and when you say your bloods are high do you mean your BG levels? If so, how high?

No need to reply personally to each message unless you really want to or are replying to a particular question as we can all see any replies you post..... so just type away and say what you like.

I’m feeling just as c**p if that helps. Well it’s not taboo on here… talk about it as much as you like! Are you on any medication? How has your diet been lately and have you had a hba1c recently ? X

Don't know how to reply to messages
Use the Reply button. (Which, on my screen, is in the bottom right of each message.) Or select some text and then click on the Reply thing that pops up. (But it's not critical, and on mobile devices it can be quite a bit more annoying to do.)

Oh my goodness it’s on the right of mine too, so sorry. What was I thinking. Must be time for sleep 😳

Awww thank you guys, can't believe I didn't reach out a long time ago, nowadays I'm on novorapid and tresiba in early days was actrapid and monotard...... In glass syringes my mum had to boil to sterelise and a wee test in test tube..... No wonder thought was a freak....... Just sort of fed up with it , maybe just a mid life crisis, just feel c**p all time at mo...... How about you guys xxxxxx

I'm on Fiasp and Levemir..... Love, love love my Levemir because it is so flexible and I can adjust it so easily for exercise etc. and to match any changes in my body. It means 2 basal injections instead of one with Tresiba but enables you to match it to what your body needs so much easier. Fiasp is OK and a bit less slow than Novo(not so)Rapid in my case but would love a bolus insulin that worked in 5 mins rather than 30 or 45mins which is my normal breakfast pre bolus time.

I've only been diagnosed just under 3 years at the age of 56 so a relative newbie to it but really appreciate all the improvements in insulins and technology and of course the discovery of insulin which is 100years today. Makes you a little more accepting of it to think that 100 years ago people just diet from it.

It is relentless though, so totally understand you feeling burned out and it is something that many, probably most people suffer at some time or another. Thankfully coming here on the forum and sharing thoughts and feelings and tips and tricks
really helps to alleviate some of that frustration. X

Hi Suzieq and welcome to the forum. I also remember the glass syringes and test tube testing. And feeling I was a freak (still do sometimes tbqh when I compare my blood sugars to all those reported here on a daily basis! No way am I ever going to report mine. Or let it worry me overmuch).

However they are a friendly bunch on here so well done for joining, and if you have any questions there is usually somebody around who will respond.

And you can browse all the various threads without contributing yourself if that is more comfortable for you. (Which is what I mostly do as my own lousy control does not really make me much of a role model lol

Even if you don't feel comfortable contributing just reading what other people do can give you inspiration and you see something you could try that you have overlooked.
I think it is pity that all G Ps and Diabetic nurses are not required to look at forums like this so they realise the reality of how people struggle with their diagnosis and management of their condition.

Welcome @Suzieq . Very pleased that you have found the forum.
Sorry to hear how difficult things were in the start with not being able to talk about your diabetes.

I wasn’t diagnosed until just 14 years ago so the fine needles, pens were the norm by then, and now the pumps and sensors are more widely available. This doesn’t stop the burnout at times, where it just feels an endless task trying to sort things out. Going away this weekend and having to start with allowing room for all the Diabetes stuff is irritating. However there is a plenty of help, support and practical advice to tap into on this forum.

Just keep in touch, firs away with questions, have a rant, …..
