I decided to have some sushi for lunch today and was horrified to have a BS reading of 10.2 testing 2 hours later

Mmmmm... Sushi (drools). How much did you have? Lots of starchy (carby) rice, and very little fat. I only ever have the teeny tiny veggie ones from Tesco/Sainsbury because they affect me more than a low carb curry with 50g dry weight of basmati rice.

It was a large pack from Tesco so quite a big one. I realise the rice would have pushed it up but didn't realise by as much as 10.2 !

Consider it a learning exercise. You enjoyed it, it's in the past, and now you can make an educated choice in future. Ho hum, this is D. 🙂

Quite possibly the type of rice also - basmati is best, but maybe not used in what you bought.

I have this a lot for lunch when at work. Just read the carb values on the box

I'd forgotten the joy of eating sushi but I agree it does spike bloods, I always have a little bit extra insulin

Hope you managed to get your bloods down

Fish by itself has no carbs but rice etc does. Those type of products have values on the box. Have one & go for a run 😉

rice kills me! :(

I'm finding I can handle small amounts of rice and pasta, it's bread and spuds that do me in.

Well, small box next time, then 🙂 It's a treat, though, so not too bad if it's not too often.

hmmm...sushi...... must admit, I've not had any since starting SW so not really had any to see the effect on bG but I know that rice does me in (like many others on here) as well as affecting my IBS so avoid it.

those that know me will know what's coming next.....

use cauli rice and make your own!!!! :D
