After trying different avenues I must admit that it was with some desperation that last November I filled in a form with social services to see if they could help me with my anxiety/depression/general lack of motivation caused by various things. Well they've come up trumps! I met my support worker for the first time today and she is absolutely wonderful as well as fab and funky. I will have her supporting me for six weeks - possibly longer - and I'm so pleased because I'm hoping that she will helped to get some of motivation and independence back which will both help me and take some of the pressure off of Mark. Also she is only two years younger than me and seems to understand me which is fab 🙂

That's lovely of you Stitch. Thank you very much x

I am very pleased to hear this.

That is great. Will you sit together to work out a person centred plan for you to get what you want out of this?

Thank you Lin and Carol. Carol I rather surprised her because I'd already written a plan for what I want achieve over the next month based on daily, weekly and monthly goals - I'm good at planning but since I became more ill I've not been very good at putting plans into action.

A bad/unsympathetic worker is a nightmare, but a good one is a gem to be treasured! 🙂 I hope your worker turns out to be as good as my main carer.

🙂

I need to be able to take a plan in with me when I see the DSN.

Alcohol is a known depressant and anxiety antagoniser. First thing to help is kick the ale on the head before any medication. Otherwise it’s counter productive.

Hepato I am not taking any medication for anxiety/depression so I can't stop medication that I'm not taking.

I think maybe Hepato was referring to the Amitriptylline AJ which is an anti-depressant but not the reason you’ve been given it. It’s also prescribed as a muscle relaxant and for pain. I took it for a while some years ago and it is an absolute sod to come off. I couldn’t sleep for months and only took a tiny amount at bedtime! Wouldn’t be so quick to take it again as a result to be honest.

A few drinks don’t depress me. Quite the reverse! :D

Thanks Amigo. Yes I am definitely only taking the amitriptylene for back problems and no other reason. However going to try stopping it today because it has completely messed up the gastroparesis. Just keeping fingers crossed that I don't get withdrawal problems.

Limited consumption of alcohol is neither here not there anyway. For sure, waking up in the morning wanting a drink is no way to deal with anxiety or depression, but I rather doubt that happens with Amanda, HP.:D
Nope no Alcohol for me in the he morning Mike...unless it's a special occasion champagne breakfast :D
