If you’re ok with setting an alarm to wake up, you could try eating a small snack before the time you‘re prone to hypos @seawaves I did that throughout my pregnancy because even with my pump things change so quickly that I wanted to be sure all was ok. I used to set my alarm for around 2am, test and eat if necessary (or do a tiny correction if high, but that was far, far less common).

You could try the bedtime snack first as that’s easiest, but if it doesn’t work, then I’d try a ‘hypo hour’ alarm and snack.
 
So pleased to hear you have a Go Ahead date for treatment and you have found prebolusing has reduced your meal spikes. Do you have a half unit pen for the Levemir if you are having difficulty fine tuning it? I always have to reduce my evening basal if I have exercised during the day and Levemir gives you the flexibility to do that whereas some of the longer acting basal insulins like Tresiba are not responsive enough to do that. Or as you have considered a high protein snack at bedtime. A couple of handfuls of roasted peanuts works well, but you have to be disciplined, espcaially if you buy large packs, because once you start it is hard to stop 🙄 and I can often end up with a lovely straight line in the 9s 😱 all night after I got carried away and ate more than I should. :confused: Cheese is also very good, maybe with a couple of oat cakes.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to ask about about half unit pens at my next catch up with my diabetes nurse at the end of this month. Ooo going to try and eat something high protein before bed tonight and see if it helps. I am not sure I have roasted peanuts in the cupboard but I do have some almonds/ walnuts so will try a small handful of those and see what happens. Thanks for your encouragement - I really appreciate it!
